The “I Can Give U” campaign is a public awareness initiative designed to promote the U=U (undetectable equals untransmittable) message and combat HIV stigma. The focus is on educating the public about U=U, the fact that people living with HIV who maintain an undetectable viral load cannot transmit the virus to others through sexual contact. This is critical for dispelling long-standing fears and misconceptions. The “I Can Give U” campaign is centered around the idea of challenging what people living with HIV can give to society beyond the virus itself. The name “I Can Give U” highlights the positive contributions, love, health, and safety that people living with HIV can offer when their viral load is undetectable. The campaign aims to reshape the narrative surrounding HIV by focusing on empowerment and education rather than fear and exclusion. The “I Can Give U” campaign is about changing perceptions, reducing stigma, and fostering a deeper understanding of HIV and U=U. It emphasizes the potential of people living with HIV to contribute positively to society and dismantles outdated fears about transmission. The campaign promotes a message of empowerment, inclusivity, and public health awareness. #iCanGiveU #UequalsU #iCantGiveUHIV #ZeroRisk #SayZero #CommunitiesFirst #ScienceNotStigma #FactsNotFear #ItEndsWithUs @icangiveu_campaign

National Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NSHAD) - August 20th Today, we come together to recognize National Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, a time to shine a light on the impact of HIV/AIDS in the Southern United States. Together, we can make a difference in our communities and move closer to an HIV-free generation.#SHAAD #EndHIV #SouthernHIVAIDSAwareness #GetTested #HIVAwareness #EndTheStigma #AOCFortWorthLet's work together for a healthier future!

Today the world is observing Zero Discrimination Day. Stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV continue to exist and affect various areas of human life, thereby creating barriers and obstacles to HIV prevention and treatment and seriously reducing the overall quality of life of those affected by the disease.Self-stigma of PLHIV remains the most pressing issue for EECA countries. Findings from studies conducted in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan showed a high level of self stigma among people living with HIV: 81.3%-91.2% of PLHIV surveyed conceal their HIV-positive status from others, half of respondents feel guilt and shame about their HIV status.1 March is a great opportunity to share with you one more time a media campaign “See What Matters”. It was created by the AFEW Partnership last year and aimed to reduce the self-stigma of women living with HIV and affected by HIV and to change societal attitudes towards them through reducing social stigma.Ending discrimination and enacting equitable laws is a shared responsibility that each of us can actively engage in. Everyone holds the power to effect change. Together, we can dismantle the barriers of stigma and strive towards a more inclusive world. Chase the virus, not people! https://lnkd.in/eddNhT7W #zerodiscrimination

Four notes about why National Women & Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is so important:1. In the 90s, women were told that they didn't need to worry about HIV. But if they tested positive, they were judged, often denied care & punished.2. Today, women are often excluded from the HIV response and told that it is a "gay men's disease." However, HIV is a sexually transmitted infection that can and does affect anyone.3. HIV is a disease of poverty but the field often acts like treatment is the only thing that matters all while ignoring what people have to do to survive―which often leads to them acquiring HIV.4. If we addressed these issues, viremia & HIV rates would plummet―especially among women.I learned all of this from Patricia Nalls at a conference, two years ago. After losing her husband and daughter to AIDS and being diagnosed with the condition herself, Nalls founded The Women's Collective―an organization that helps women living with HIV and protects people who are HIV possible from acquiring the virus. You can learn more about their work and support it at: https://lnkd.in/eYZNhQ6Q#HIV #EmpowerWomen

Today is National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Although HIV rates are relatively low among API individuals compared to other racial and ethnic groups, the repercussion of HIV/AIDS in API communities still warrants attention. Stereotypes about API being the “model minority” contribute to their invisibility in strategies to address HIV domestically, and the impact of HIV/AIDS on these communities is often overlooked. The rate of viral suppression among Asian people in the U.S. (68%), is still higher than the national average (65%). For NAPIHAAD, we're hoping to help reduce HIV stigma in Asian, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander communities while breaking down barriers to accessing care. Check out this resource hub to learn how we can all do more to support this community: https://lnkd.in/gF8arUrc
